Julie Kells, BScKIN., R.M.T., D.AC
Julie completed her Bachelor of Science Honours Kinesiology degree in 1996 from the University of Waterloo in Ontario. Having traveled extensively for a year, Julie then returned to Ontario to further her education. It was in 1999 when Julie earned her diploma as a Registered Massage Therapist from D’Arcy Lane Institute of Massage Therapy in London, Ontario.
Upon completion, Julie spent time at clinics practicing both Kinesiology and gaining valuable experience as a massage therapist. Julie’s fondness for the east coast brought her to Halifax in 2000 where she has continued to build experiences as a massage therapist. Julie had a desire to take massage therapy in a new direction and quickly set about building her own clinic focusing on a more integrated approach to healing. In 2005 Julie expanded her clinic and named it Be. Massage Therapy.
In May 2012, Julie graduated with her diploma in Acupuncture from the College of Acupuncture and Therapeutics in Kitchener, Ontario. She is a registered Acupuncturist and is an active member of the Maritime Association of Registered Acupuncturists. Julie uses acupuncture, dry needling and cupping therapy, in many of her treatments. She helps treat conditions such as anxiety, depression, reproductive and menstrual issues, gastrointestinal disorders, musculoskeletal disorders, trigger points, and acute and chronic pain.
Julie’s areas of interest are in deep tissue therapy, trigger point therapy, sports therapy, TMJ dysfunction, and working with rehabilitating post stroke patients. Julie combines massage therapy, myofascial techniques, acupuncture, cupping, and stretching and strengthening exercises to assist in the body’s natural healing process.
Julie has repeatedly been voted the ‘Best Massage Therapist’ in The Coast’s Best of Halifax, Readers Survey. A dedicated health professional, she has hand-picked the clinic’s massage therapists and is committed to your well-being.
