Julie Kells BScKIN., R.M.T.
Julie completed her Bachelor of Science Honours Kinesiology degree
in 1996 from the University of Waterloo in Ontario. Having traveled
extensively for a year, Julie then returned to Ontario to further
her education. It was in 1999 when Julie earned her diploma as a
Registered Massage Therapist from D’Arcy Lane Institute of
Massage Therapy in London, Ontario.
Upon completion, Julie spent time at clinics practicing both Kinesiology
and gaining valuable experience as a massage therapist. Julie’s
fondness for the east coast brought her to Halifax in 2000 where
she has continued to build experiences as a massage therapist. Julie
had a desire to take massage therapy in a new direction and quickly
set about building her own clinic focusing on a more integrated
approach to healing. In late 2004 Julie expanded her clinic within
the YMCA and named it Be.
Julie’s areas of interest are in deep tissue therapy, trigger
point therapy, sports therapy, TMJ dysfunction, and working with
rehabilitating post stroke patients. Julie combines massage therapy
techniques, myofascial techniques, stretching and strengthening
exercises to assist in the body’s natural healing process.
Julie has been voted the Best Massage Therapist in The Coast, Best
of Halifax, Readers Survey, in 2002, 2003, lost by one vote in 2004
and won again in 2005. She has hand-picked her massage therapists to work at Be. They are all wonderful therapists, and she encourages
you to come in and try them all at Be.
